Add to My HeroesJamie Allen Roussey
Police Officer Jamie Roussey was killed in an automobile crash when his Jeep Cherokee patrol vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of North Fulton Avenue and West Fayette Street as he was responding to assist an officer who was in a foot pursuit.
After the initial collision, the driver's side of the Jeep struck a utility pole. Rescue workers had to remove the top of the Jeep in order to free Officer Roussey. He was transported to a local hospital where he died of injuries approximately two hours later.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with Officer Roussey's vehicle was arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon after officers found a handgun in the trunk of his car.
Officer Roussey had served with the Baltimore City Police Department for one year. His father, brother, cousin, and uncle all served with the Baltimore City Police Department at the time of his death. He was survived by his mother, father, and seven siblings.

View all 59 ReflectionsI remember our Honor Guard being present for more than 20 funerals in just one year alone. Officer Jamie Allen Roussey was one. That many police officer funerals does take its toll. Lt. BCPD Roussey, the father of Fallen BCPD Officer Jamie Allen Roussey addressed us at a Maryland Honor Guard Seminar. This was a wonderful opportunity to could come together without wearing a mourning band. Lt. Roussey said many things but the one that stuck with me was... " When we walked out of that church on the morning of our son's funeral, and we saw the ocean of flags and uniforms. All dressed and polished at your best. It took our breaths and it made us know without a doubt, our son's life meant something." I will never forget that quote and it gave all of us from all the various agencies a greater meaning for what we were doing. Matthew 5:9 says it perfectly.
