Cerilo Aganon "Bambi" Agarano, Jr.

Police Officer III Cerilo Agarano suffered a fatal heart attack while conducting a surveillance operation with federal agents in a rugged area of Upper Kanaio at about 5:15 am.

The agents were hiking into the area to conduct surveillance prior to conducting a search warrant. Officer Agarano became fatigued and sat under a shade tree. Other officers noticed that he did not get up and discovered him unconscious. They performed CPR on him until he was flown to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A search warrant was served at the site as part of the investigation several days later, resulting in the discovery of the largest crystal methamphetamine lab in the state's history.

Officer Agarano had served with the Maui County Police Department for 20 years. He was survived by his wife, 4-year-old twin daughters, and grown son.
