Most Recent Reflection
View all 50 ReflectionsIn 1998 I was a senior in high school when you stopped a vehicle I was riding in with two friends on our way to Waco from Groesbeck. It was a minor traffic violation (speeding, I think) but we were cutting up and made you laugh on the side of that highway. You let us go with a warning because our silly teenage antics made you laugh in a career that laughs are few and far between.
Five years later I graduated from Navarro College Police Academy -
I remembered that traffic stop with you & practiced the same when I was a patrol officer. When someone brought a little joy & laughter into my shift, I would afford them the same courtesy you showed three teenagers on Highway 164 in the Spring of 1998.
I served my state for nearly two decades before I had to medically retire. I was sharing this story with my now teenaged daughter today and thought of you. This reflection is long overdue - I hope others see it and they pass on this same lesson I learned so many years ago.
Thank you brother. Well done thy good and faithful servant.
