Deputy Richard Weinke was killed in a vehicle crash while responding to back up another officer at a domestic disturbance call at approximately 4:30 am.
The collision occurred about five miles north of Sauk City on U.S. Highway 12. He was killed instantly when his patrol car collided with another vehicle.
Deputy Weinke had served with the Sauk County Sheriff's Department for four years. He is survived by his wife, two young children, and his parents. His father also served with the Sauk County Sheriff's Department.
