Patrolman Richard Baker succumbed to injuries sustained two days earlier when his motorcycle struck a tractor trailer that had pulled out in front of him at the intersection of South Main Street and Washington Street.
He was responding to a call when the collision occurred.
Patrolman Baker had served with the Dayton Police Department for six years. He was survived by his wife and five children.
