Police Officer Harry White was shot and killed by poachers at the Nitrate Plant No. 1 in Colbert County, Alabama.
Officer White ordered the men to break their shotguns and walk ahead of his horse. When Officer White's attention was distracted by the poachers' dogs, one of the men suddenly swung around and shot Officer White, killing him.
The two men then robbed Officer White's body of his wallet and service revolver. They hid his body in an abandoned cistern and fled the reservation. Both men were arrested a short time later and confessed to his murder.
One of the suspects who murdered him was executed by hanging on October 9th, 1925.
Officer White was survived by his father and three sisters.
