Deputy Oakley Webb died of a heart attack as he was pursuing two runaway boys from the A. L. Bowen Children’s Center in Harrisburg.
Deputy Webb was found about 100 yards away from his parked patrol car, on Illinois Route 14, approximately four miles west of McLeansboro.
Deputy Webb had served with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department for six years. He was survived by his wife, three sons, four brothers and three sisters. Deputy Webb was buried at IOOF McLeansboro.
