George Clayton Ayres

Patrolman George Ayres was killed in an automobile crash accident while on patrol on New Albany Road.

As he was rounding a bend between Riverton Road and Church Street, he hit some debris in the road. He lost control of the car and went down an embankment, flipping twice before crashing into a tree.

Patrolman Ayres was a United States Navy Reserve WWII veteran and had served with the Moorestown Police Department for just over one year. He was survived by his wife and three young children.

On today, the 67th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
