View all 38 ReflectionsToday is the 40th anniversary of when I was Ordained a Deacon in The United Methodist Church; and even though much has changed for me personally and professionally during the intervening decades I can still vividly recall all the tribute signs along "the strip" from Hummels Wharf to Northumberland.
The ministry of a Deacon--"diaconos" in Greek--is to serve. "To protect and serve" is a motto which we in law enforcement aspire to live by. And for some, diaconos is fulfilled in offering a last full measure of devotion.
May his Memory be Eternal!
