Patrick Emmanuel Sweeney, Sr.

Patrolman Patrick Sweeney was shot and killed while confronting several men who were trespassing at Elena Christian Jr. High School in Christiansted, St. Croix.

Patrolman Sweeney was a United States Army Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Virgin Islands Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife and two sons.

The Patrick Sweeney Headquarters in Christiansted, La Croix, was named in his honor.

Patrolman Sweeney,
On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
