James Blaine Shrewsbury

Private James Shrewsbury succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained four days earlier when he was shot in a gun battle with a gang of bootleggers near Lansing.

He was taken to Oak Hill Hospital for treatment and then transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Private Shrewsbury was a U.S. Army World War I veteran and served with the West Virginia State Police for over one year. Two of his brothers served with the Raleigh County (West Virginia) Sheriff's Office.

On today, the 102nd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during World War I. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
