Patrolman Seick was at a gas station when he saw a man walk out of the building very quickly. Patrolman Seick was familiar with the subject and suspected he had just robbed the service station. He followed the man a short distance before asking him what he was doing in the service station. The man shot Patrolman Seick in the chest, with the gun still in his jacket pocket.
The man fled the scene but was apprehended several days later and sentenced to life. He was paroled in 1974.
