View all 12 ReflectionsHe was my grandfather I never met. He died when my dad was 4. He died before social security and survivor benefits were part of a policeman's pay - my grandmother struggled to raise four kids but did an amazing job. He was the former Chief of Police in Buchanan NY before taking the position with the Westchester County Parkway Police. He served in the Navy in WW1. Dying at age 36 created a void and loss in our family that can never be filled even now. Gone too soon - but, not forgotten, your memory and DNA lives on in your 11 grandchildren and their children. Grandfather no passage of time erases your service and sacrifice - you are still loved all of these years later.
