Frank Robert Schlatt

Officer Schlatt was shot and killed while responding to a burglary at a furniture store.

As he entered the business, he was shot in the face by the burglar, who was hiding behind a couch. The suspect was eventually captured and executed.

Officer Schlatt was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and had served with the Atlanta Police Department for five years. He was survived by his wife and daughter.

As you answered the call to respond to a possible robbery in progress, your bravery and selflessness shone through. Though your life was tragically cut short, your legacy lives on through the countless lives you touched. Your family, friends, and fellow officers continue to draw strength from the memories of your time together. We honor your memory and celebrate the impact you had on our lives. You will always be remembered as a hero and a shining example of courage and dedication. We love and miss you, but we take comfort in knowing that your spirit lives on in our hearts.
