Deputy Sheriff John Sack was shot and killed while serving a warrant on a man for a code violation for not cutting his grass.
Deputy Sack told the man to get his ATM card so that he could post bail. As Deputy Sack exited the residence at 2102 North University Street, in Peoria, to wait for the man he was shot in the back. The man was shot and killed in the ensuing standoff.
Deputy Sack was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran and had served with the Peoria County Sheriff's Office for 20 years. He was survived by his wife, son and two daughters.

I remember feeling very sad for him and his family, for the news releases of his character and personality was very good and positive.
Detective John Sack, may you rest in peace and I hope and pray that you are admitted into the Pearly Gates. My sincerest condolences goes out to the family.
