Deputy Constable Pat Runyon was shot and killed while responding to a misdemeanor criminal mischief call at 2515 Sundown Lane in Robstown.

As Deputy Runyon approached the house, one of the two brothers inside shot him in the heart with a small caliber pistol loaded with rat-shot, killing him instantly. The two were arrested but later acquitted at trial.

Deputy Runyon was survived by his wife, child, parents, and eight siblings.

I meant to make this on Fri, your actual birthday. Another year of remembrances. So many days that I do think of you and know you would have made such a difference had you had the chance. I thank your brother Joe for mentioning me. I feel lucky to have had conversations with your sister Rosemary while she was on FB, it helped me on some things. I hope she is well.
