Sergeant Robert Glenwood Robinson

Robert, (Bob) as family called him, was my cousin. I was only 7 years old at the time of his killing. I remember how devastated our family was, and how everyone seemed to be in shock. When we got the news we immediately gathered with the family trying to make sense of it all. Something that sticks out in my mind was his funeral service. The church was packed with officers showing their respect and offering support. The crowd overflowed outside. One thing in particular that is forever engraved in my mind is how grieved Bob's sister Peggy was. She wailed and cried out his name... "Bob!... Bob!...Bob!." during the funeral service. It's something I will never forget. I also remember my uncle George vowing to hunt down Bob's killer himself. Uncle George was a Navarro county deputy sheriff at the time. Sadly Uncle George was also killed in the line of duty while working in Johnson County in 1971. There were many in my family who served in law enforcement, one being my father, who served in the Dallas Police Department for 32 years. I greatly respect those who put their lives on the line to keep us all safe. I remember Bob's infectious smile, and how he was always so much fun to be around. Rest in peace cousin, until we meet again.
