Game Warden Charles Rider was killed in a three-car crash involving a wrong-way driver on US 50-301 north of Grasonville, Maryland.
The wrong-way driver was traveling north in the southbound lanes and struck a pickup truck that was passing the vehicle containing Game Warden Rider and another game warden. The impact forced the Game Wardens' vehicle off the road, crashing into an embankment. Game Warden Rider was transported to the Easton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from head injuries. The wrong-way driver died at the scene. The driver of the truck and the other game warden were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

View all 11 ReflectionsI never met you Grandfather, but I bear your name and, in many ways, your resemblance and traits. I inherited your love for the outdoors, and your talent for music, as I play guitar as well. As an adult I unknowingly moved to a home no more than a mile from where you took your last breath. Its one of my greatest regrets that I never got to meet you, but I am oh so proud to be your grandson.
