Reserve Officer Lyloyd Reed succumbed to injuries he received when he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic during a series of six tornadoes in the area.

Officer Reed was directing traffic at 46th Street and Lyndale Avenue when a car swerved to avoid a falling tree and struck him. He was taken to a hospital where he remained in a coma for three months before passing away.

Officer Reed was a United States Navy Reserve World War II veteran. He was survived by his wife and three children.
