K9 Georgia suffered from heatstroke after being left in the patrol car while her handler was inside the Dade County Sheriff's Office at 75 Case Avenue in Trenton.
On July 13, 2025, the heat index ranged from 100 to 102 degrees. The air conditioning compressor in the patrol car malfunctioned and ceased to operate; plus, the heat alarm was not functioning.
K9 Georgia had served with the Dade County Sheriff's Office for 11 months.
