K-9 Hugo died of heat exhaustion after being left for a period of time in his handler's vehicle.
K-9 Hugo's handler was attending a training class for his Department. He left his K-9 Hugo in their patrol vehicle with the air conditioning running. After approximately 40 minutes, the officer returned to his vehicle to check on his partner. He discovered that the air conditioner had malfunctioned and stopped running. Hugo died in the vehicle of heat stroke.
