K9 Ingo was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a burglary suspect on Reservoir Road.
The subject was arrested and charged with shooting a police dog and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
K9 Ingo had served with the Albemarle County Police Department for six years and was certified in patrol and narcotics detection.
