Reflections for Police Officer Christopher M. L. Reese
No words can express the sadness and anger that is felt for the senseless loss of 2 COVB Officers. They were and are heroes for every citizen in Va Beach for the years of selfishness they gave for the protection they gave to us all. I had the opportunity to meet Christopher Reece. I can't tell you how impressed I was to talk to him many times over his injury a few months ago while on duty. All he wanted was to hurry up and get released to get back to work. He loved his job, family and his family in blue. I will always remember him as a young man who loved to protect and serve the CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH. My prayers

Very hard days ahead for the surviving families and the members of Virginia Beach PD. The death of these two officers is incomprehensible. But, you must face each day with courage and fortitude and continue to do your job. May God give you all the strength that you need to accomplish these goals.

The love you give is the hate you get in return. No officer or Department should have to feel the pain one suffers when two officers die. What makes this so heartfelt is the person who killed this young man and his partner can’t face justice for what he did. I pray that each family of these gentlemen finds the peace and love that surrounds them. It’s a dark day for Virginia Beach Police Department and your brothers in red are behind the brothers in blue. Rest easy gentlemen for your service and mission on earth has been completed, you’ve fulfilled your destiny and made us all proud. #EOW02/22/2025

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."
