This past September, my wife and I were vacationing in Vermont and one day crossed over the border from Derby, Vt to Stanstead, Quebec on foot. When we crossed back, we chatted for several minutes with one of the CBP officers at the border and I identified myself as a former US Customs agent and retired DEA agent. The officer described the encounters they were having with migrants at the northern border. It is obvious that we also have a problem on the US-Canadian border. May Officer Maland rest in peace, and may God protect his fellow officers.
