Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Bryan Scott Hurst

Bryan,

Your sacrifice was not in vain. Your quick and selfless actions saved many lives. You went above and beyond the call of duty, you will never be forgotten. We know that you are among many great brothers and sisters and someday we will meet again.

Marissa, Malia & Family,

There are no words to express my sorrow. What a husband, father, brother and son! Although we will never fill the void, know that your "Family in Blue" will always walk with you.

Our Brothers & Sisters of the Columbus Division of Police,

You are in our thoughts and prayers. As you have stood by are sides, so will we. The color of a shirt or badge may differ, yet we all stand strong amongst "the thin blue line."

Officer Eric H. Brill (Retired)
Whitehall Division of Police

Gumper,

You are the most OUTSTANDING man I have ever known. The final words you heard from me was my promise that I would forever take care of Marissa and Malia. This will be done. We all had a couple at the OC for you and wished you were there. Go Steelers

Marissa, after reading all of these messages I don't think there is much more to say. I hope you know were are all thinking about you.

Since this took Bryan away from you and your little girl, I find comfort thinking that he can help take care of my little girl til we get there. Even though I didn't know him, I'm sure he'll do a fine job.

Bryan, first let me thank you for heroic actions on Jan. 6th. I have told Marissa that even though I too wear the uniform I don't know that I could have been as courageous as you were. I could only hope that I can be half the deputy you were an officer.

Secondly Bryan I want to thank you for being such a big support to Marissa over the last year. You made a lot of sacrifices for her and Malia and the ultimate sacrifice for your community.

God Bless You!

Marissa, your strength and strong will have always been character traits that I have respected. You know I am here for you if you need anything.

Bryan,
Your family and friends truly honored you yesterday. I feel that I personally knew you by the end of your service. Even though you came from such a large department and Bran a smaller one I can see that truly all cops are really alike in so many ways. It is truly a brotherhood like no other. I know that you and Bran are cruising the great highway together right now. Just to let you in on a secret he too had a nickname...Gump please let Bacon know that we all love him and miss him dearly. You are a true hero and I hope that your family can make it through this journey.

Bryan,

I didn't personally know you, but we have a lot of top-notch bro's in common. I'm certain we would have eventually run into each other. It's obvious from the caliber of the guys who were around you, that you were squared away. Some people "get it," and some don't. It is clear that you "got it." You were dedicated, courageous, loyal to your family, and lived each day to the fullest.

We went to your service today, the 3rd service for a fallen member of our Central Ohio law enforcement family since October... and we know we did you proud. But just like with Deputy Brandy Winfield and Officer Melissa Foster, there was a constant, cold rain. "Tears from above," they say. Appropriate.

This has truly been a terrible loss to all us brothers-in-blue, but you can rest knowing you did it right. You were committed to saving people in the bank and fearless to the end. Rest in peace now man... and watch over the rest of us.

To Officer Bryan Hurst's family, brother and coworkers,
Although I never got to meet Bryan, I have heard a lot about him from his brother, "Kaz" from Toledo who spoke highly of him on all levels. Bryan truly built good friendships, family, a career and life here on earth. You can only imagine what he's building up there - I still would like to meet you one day in Heaven!

Bryan, I first met you when you were a little boy in West Virginia. I know how proud your mother was of you then and how proud you continued to make her and all of your family throughout your life. You accomplished so much and truly left this world a better place because of you having been in it. I know how much you were loved and how much you will be missed. Rest in peace, Bryan.
