Police Officer Thomas Hadican died after falling from a streetcar around 7:30 a.m.
Officer Hadican was on his way home for his breakfast break and jumped on the 4th Street streetcar to head towards his home. Because the streetcar was crowded, he was forced to stand on the rear platform and hold onto a railing. The streetcar swerved at a high rate of speed around the corner of Plum Street, causing Officer Hadican to lose his grip and fall, striking his head on the pavement.
He was transported to City Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries six hours later.
Officer Hadican had served with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for eight years and was assigned to the Seventh District. He was survived by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
