Officer Darrell Cooper was killed when his cruiser was struck by a vehicle who's driver had run a red light.
The collision occurred while Officer Cooper was on patrol. He was approaching an intersection with a green light. The suspect vehicle ran the red light at a high rate of speed and struck the driver's side of Officer Cooper's cruiser. Officer Cooper succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Officer Cooper was a U.S Navy veteran and was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
