Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero, Officer Cook. The traditions and honor that you upheld have been dignified by today's officers loyal and brave as you were. Integrity that was well spent battling adversary and misery beyond our wildest of who knows. Violence should never have ended your life and career and Mr. Pearsall should have heeded your instructions and May 16, 1979, would not have ended the way it did. A humble and heroic sacrifice that has transported our ideals, ideas, dreams and values straight ahead. God's perfect pastures are full of perfection in spirit and loyalty in the uniforms that have been donned to handle the calls of duty beyond ordinary work. Never forgotten and fully honored and saluted for resolve and valor beyond the mettle and morals of your outstanding character.

Reputations are the humble beginnings of a hero's childhood and environment. Living and growing up in North Miami Beach, Fl, Officer Cook, times were sure different then as they are sadly now. You attended some of the same schools as I did and never experienced any of the hassles and troubles that I went through. Too bad I was not your age back then maybe a companion and a good friend like yourself would have mattered. Though, I'm blessed with a lovely wife, Holly and two handsome sons, Matthew and Joshua who are independent. Matt lives and works out in San Francisco and Josh attends college in New York though we would have preferred that he stayed here in Florida. Your family came to sunny South Florida sixty-five years ago and through progressions you wanted to become a police officer. a very noble, challenging and at times a perilous profession filled with awesome responsibility. And thank God authority and power never crept into your brains of maturity. Honesty, humility, dignity and integrity vitalized your wholesome missions on behalf of Dade County and mankind forever. You have been and are humbly remembered for heroically risking your soul to save your esteemed colleagues and the residents whom you took an affirmation to protect and to serve. The clouds up in heaven are enlightened by your mortal soul, Officer Cook, which hovers high overhead your family, peers and friends. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A beautiful smile aglow that is sorely missed very much today.
