Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

Relationships and friendships share a common bond. That thread of hope, peace and decency that must be alike in every way, shape and form. You had lots of friends, Officer Cook, loads of peers from all over who attended your Inspector's Funeral on May 19, 1979 at St. Mary's Cathedral to pay respects to you and your beloved family. You death leave an indelible impression on society and the sting somehow decades later can still be felt. Pulsing right through the bodies of your loved ones while they pursue and carry on with your smile and purposes and happiness of life. A career marked by respectful resolve, honorable intentions and dignified pathways by which integrity may flow. Never forgotten, a hero and a gentleman whose youth was never lost. That spirit was immediately uplifted to heaven where your dad, Mr. Charles Cook, may he too rest in peace along now with his beloved Julia. Your reverent and humbly pious mother, Mrs. Cook. Your mother carried on her stoic life without her darling and heroic son for nearly forty years without seeing your radiant face ever again all because of a mad man lacking character, morals and some semblance of faith. Three Cooks are solemnly remembered by their daughter and your big sister, Nancy. Mountains of pictures, millions of memories warm, poignant and sad. Life does move forward as you rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Heaven and Our King have your brave and loving heart seated next that throne of sanctity and harmony forevermore. Karen, your beloved widow who remarried ten years ago has those keepsakes of your solid constitution and consideration for all humanity. Mankind rests at night and still keeps your fervent hopes and aspirations alive and overflowing with joy and gusto. Your life just should not have ended that way even though you were performing your official duties to protect.

The partnership with the community is extra vital in creating a bond of esteem, loyalty and the honesty between police and the civilians. You watched over an entire area in Dade County, Officer Cook and because of your vested interest you remain a legend of stability, humility and above all heroism. A quiet and unassuming character that was all due diligence and virtuous vigilance. Saluted and paid homage for forming those bands of boldness now and forever high atop those clouds and blue skies in the most peaceful and perfect of sanctuaries. Hacks and whiffs won't abbreviate terrible violence. Hitting and missing either won't eliminate the downpour of violence. In Dade County your roles, Officer Cook, were to be honest, intelligent and have dignity while chasing after evil. Be free of impediments that can shift your focuses away from your protection, that was never a problem. Never any bones to pick. Your fairness, firmness and truthful trust was always going to be present and all accounted for. You spent some lunchtime periods as your colleagues put it in "the zone." A kind and compassionate young man, a brother officer so gifted and yet some humble. Honesty and integrity, dignity and character that never got your head, Officer Cook, you just did your job and overwhelmed Dade County with your humane and heroic actions of onus. Passion and persuasion, it should have made Mr. Pearsall reconsider and to surrender when you directed him to. Your hopes and goodwill are now part of your beloved family's inspirations and goals as they carry the torch of your legacy, one saluted and validated by enhancing character, stoic commitment and the very sterling of conviction.
