The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

I was fortunate enough to know Mike while he was at the coast and in greensboro through a good mutual friend of ours. Mike was one of the most solid guys there are. Thank you for your service Mike. For always thinking about and helping others, for your sacrifice and protecting us all. You were one of the greats and you will continue in our memories and hearts. My heart and deepest sympathy goes to your family, as I know how incredible you are to them.

Mike was in my USCG Reserve unit and was someone I relied on tremendously. We would talk often, at least a few times a week about cop stuff or USCG stuff or just about stupid things. We were both from New Jersey and upon meeting him, we instantly became friends. Over the past 6 years, we shared a lot of times together most recently our Coast Guard units Christmas Party. He was one of my best friends and absolutely loved his family, being a cop and the Coast Guard. He was a great person that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I'm going to miss him dearly.

To the family of Police Officer Michael Horan, may God bless you and keep you. Everytime I look at his picture online or on tv it makes me mad to know someone would harm him when he was trying to protect and serve his community. I pray you rest in Heavenly peace. The words "OFFICER DOWN" makes me go to pieces.

R.I.P. Officer Horan,
It is truly sad to know that your life was taken just two days before Christmas. It’s heartbreaking to think that your children woke up on Christmas morning without their father to celebrate with them. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, the community, and the Greensboro Police Department during this difficult time.
