Reflections for Sergeant William Leo McEntee

Pray for me, Bill. I need you behind me.

June 12, 2006

To the Family of Bill:

We will remember Bill!

In the rising of the sun and in it's going down....
We remember him

In the blowing of the wind and the rebirth of spring....
We remember him

In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer.....
We remember him

In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn....
We remember him

In the beginning of the year and when it ends...
We remember him

When we are weary and in need of strength.....
We remember him

When we are lost and sick of heart....
We remember him

When we have joys we yearn to share....
We remember him

So long as we live, Bill too shall live,
for he is a part of us as....
We remember him

We will remember Bill!

I'm from Kirkwood and now I live in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
We too just lost one of our own by the hands of a coward.Jason was 31 and had a 3 year old son. So you and Jason can patrol the streets of heaven together.
May your family find peace and love soon.

Bill,
11 months. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you - I will see or hear something that reminds me of you and I either start smiling, laughing or crying. That will never change. I miss you so much. Love you-Jayne

Bill,
I just got back from Katie's 8th grade graduation - I thought about you the whole time and how you should have been there. I know how much you loved Katie and all your kids - you would have been proud of her - she looked beautiful and I see so much of you in her. It is just not fair that you are missing these milestones....I'm sorry, I'm trying to be strong, but sometimes I just can't. We all miss you so much. Please continue to give Katie your guidance and strength - I know you were there with her. Love you-Jayne

I was cleaning me desk at work and I found this line someone sent me from the book The Little Prince. It made me cry -again: 'In one of the stars
I shall be living
In one of them
I shall be laughing
And so it will be
as if all the stars were laughing
when you look
at the sky at night.' I miss your laugh, I miss you so. Kath

Mac,

The group is back from D.C. and Denise brought me a rubbing of your name along with some other memorabilia. I found out that Jackie reads the postings because she asked me for a copy of the Last Call that I did for you when we laid you to rest. I have started reading the postings here also and as you can see, I am posting some too. It is a good outlet for some but for me it is difficult as I don't like showing my emotions. I guess that is one thing you and I had in common. Watch over us Mac and protect us as much as you can. God bless and rest easy.

Hey, bill
You always gave me crap about not calling you by your name I just want to let you know that I miss you and think about you all of the time. I am sure that you were watching over me the other nite, hopefully everything turns out okay. I always told you that you were my fav and that was the truth. I wish I could have been in DC. I will always remember our talks...

Thanks Bill for being a gaurdian angel for my mom and my family. As you know we were sitting around doing alot of reminiscing and had a good laugh about the time when we were just out of highschool and we talked my mom in to having a party because my dad was fishing for the weekend with my nephew and my dad came hme early and you guys starting making margaritas for my dad and was goofing around with my nephew because some of you were playing soccer for his dad. It's my nephew who always brings that story up because you guys were making him laugh. Thanks again Bill.

Mac,

I'm sorry I couldn't go to DC for the roll call including you, but I know you understand.

Not a day goes by when I don't hear your laugh. I saw Uncle Buck the other day and thought of you and the kids. "Get back in your mouse, and get out of here."

We all miss you more than you could possibly imagine.

God bless you Sam Ten and may he watch over Mary, Katie, Conor and Brendan.

What can I say Mac … it has been almost a year now and we still have people hurting. I really think that it was the way we lost you that hurts the most. I hope I did you proud with the Last Call … it was the only way that I could honor you in the way that I thought it should be done. God Bless Mac … rest easy …

Come to this sight all the time to see you. You and your family are always in my heart and thoughts. As my mom would always say growing up dealing with all of us kids "God give me strength". God give us all strength especially the wonderful McEntee family.

May 11, 2006

Bill - Your family needs your strength supporting them through the grueling trip to Washington. Please be their guardian angel and support them on those incredible shoulders of yours. We pray for you as well as your family and hope the feeling of your presence can somehow lessen their pain. God's bless you all.

Bill,
I still don't believe you're not with us!!! Somedays I have to stop myself from calling you. I really miss our talks. Things have been a little crazy here. It's time to sign up for soccer; it doesn't seem right. Please help Tommy, he doesn't want to play without you.

To Sgt. William Leo McEntee, his loved ones and his fellow officers:

Please know that your memory is revered and honored today.

May your family continue be to comforted by the warm embrace of their law enforcement family, and other police survivors who share this painful journey with them. My heart is with your family, and I hope to meet them in D.C.

Reading all the loving reflections left by those who cared for you gives us an understanding of what a good and honorable man you were and of the high esteem with which you are held. You were so greatly loved by your family and friends.

Bill, as a peace officer you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Bill. I am so humbled by your valor and courage.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Bill gave to his community and the citizens of Missouri, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 5, 2005.
