Reflections for Police Officer Larry Elwood Lasater, Jr.
I pray for your entire family during this difficult time,
having to go through a trial is not easy but know that Larry will be with you during this time and always! God
bless all of you. Justice will prevail!
July 6, 2007
Jury selection is underway at long last. There is some peace of mind knowing that our quest for justice is at this stage of the process. I know you are with us and will keep us strong for these next months ahead that are so important to us. You are so loved and so missed.
I love you forever and forever, my beloved child. Semper Fi.

P.S. Cody likes to climb as much as you and James did when you were kids. He is so quick and agile you have to watch him every minute. He was so playful on Thursday when I visited with him. I think he and Seth may form a very young boy band as they both love guitars. How you would have loved to have seen them play together.

I recently found this site and was touched by the wonderful tribute your mother left on the reflection site of my brother another fallen hero like you. You made the ultimate sacrifice and your family, community and this world lost another outstanding human being who tried to make a difference. I did not have the honor of knowing you in life but I feel that your spirit will continue to live on through your family and now my family.

Cody did the cutest thing today. Scout was sitting in the patio and Cody went up to him and said "hug" and wrapped his arms around him. Cody kept putting his head on Scout and petting him. They sat like that for a few minutes looking out at the yard. He is so good with animals, he doesn't chase them or terrorize them at all. He just wants to hug and pet them. I know you would've thought that was the cutest thing.
Trial is coming up and I'm filled with anxiety. I know this is going to be such a difficult thing to get through. I'm having trouble sleeping already and it hasn't even started.
I was thinking today about all the things we were planning to do with Cody. You wanted to take your little buddy with you to see your friends and hang out. He's the type of kid you could have done that with. I know he would've wanted to be just like you. It's heartbreaking that he doesn't have you here to guide him. I can only do so much. A child needs a father just as much as a mother.
I miss you so much

We watched Cody last night. He's so much fun. His favorite thing lately is guitars. Whenever he comes over our house the first thing he want's to do is play both of his Uncle Peter's guitars. He has this thing where he strums the guitar, then throws his arm around in a big circle and ends with his hand held over his head. Well, last night we taught him to say something new. He stands at the guitar, does his big strum and then we say, 'Cody, I want to rock' and Cody yells, 'ROCK'!!! It's too cute!

I just read your Mom's last reflection, and I could feel a tear coming down my cheek. It takes a lot for that to happen. May you be granted the eternal rest that you have truly earned and may your friends and family find the strength and courage to carry on until the grand reunion in the sky. Thanks for helping to make the World a better and safer place. R.I.P. Larry.

Your mom is right. Nobody can minimize the impact you had on so many lives, no matter how hard they try.
Our son is getting so big and it's amazing to see the world through his eyes. He's is getting a bit of an attitude when he doesn't get his way. He gets over it pretty quick though. He did something that you would've loved yesterday. He was saying something I couldn't understand at first and walking funny. Finally I figured out he was saying "march" and was trying to march around. I have no idea where he got that. Of course I thought of the Marines. I'll take any sign I can get.
Love you

The voices of all those who loved you will not be silenced. The truth will prevail and your legacy of honor will continue to shine. Your family, friends, and law enforcement family will not surrender in our quest for justice for you and for us and for the greater community. It is pure evil that you were brutally murdered and the lives of everyone who loved you shattered forever only now to be confronted by those who try to diminish the impact of your loss by silencing our voices and presence. It will not happen. You are our beloved son, husband, FATHER, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, friend, co worker, Marine, and police officer eternally on watch. You are with us and we are with you.
I love you forever and ever, my beloved son.

Dear JoAnn, Cody and Mrs. Loya ~ I'm thinking of you this weekend as the nation honors the service and sacrifice of all those who fought to keep this country free. Every day is tough, but days like this are unbearable. Take care.

You now have a park named after you. It's only about 10 minutes from home so I can take Cody all the time. "Cody's Corner" is a great little play area for kids. You'd be so honored by all the wonderful things people are doing.
Cody and I will bring you flowers tomorrow. He's starting to help me pick them out. Our little sad tradition.
Love you

HI Larry,
I have not been able to put into words what I want to say after the graduation for Class 14. I have been at the academy for the past two nights, and even though the cadets are FREE and away from the academy, they are still popping in and saying hi..... They're awesome.
Tonight is not the night that I will be able to close out the cadets files or be able to write what I want to. Just not ready for that yet......
I just wanted to tell you that I was thinking about you a lot especially on today, the day of the California Memorial in Sacramento. I thought about all of you today and I prayed for comfort for all of your families and friends....
Until next time my friend, Please continue to watch over us and guide us.......

Larry,
It was an honor to meet your family and have them be a part of the academy graduation last week. The cadet who received the Spirit Award in your name is well deserving and she will proudly represent the honor of your reputation and your memory. Even though I knew the history of the flag as it traveled around the world in your name all along the past year, to hear Damian tell the story to the graduation audience brought me to tears. The graduation ceremony last week and the Peace Officer Memorial ceremony tomorrow are tough reminders that some of the best are taken from us all too soon. Your family is especially in my prayers. Stand tall alongside Isaac, Tony and Dan as you watch over everyone in Sacramento and mourn the newest brothers to join you. You will never be forgotten.

Jo Ann, Cody and Phyllis,
Thank you for coming to Class 14's graduation. I can't begin to tell you how much it meant to each and everyone of us that you were there. I hope your accomodations were satisfactory and they met all of your needs while you were here. Please know that Larry will never be forgotten and that he lives on in the hearts of many, myself included. Keep us posted on Cody as he continues to grow. May God Bless and keep you always.

Larry,
It has been two years, and a day has not gone by that I think of you and what happend that day. I have only written here once since that day, but the last couple months have been pretty tough and I needed to write you.
Your memorial was very special, Phil shared some very special words with everyone. Dan put together the honor guard, including PPD and The Marines. I know you were their with us.
Jo Ann recognized the Fire Fighters who were with you two years ago and did an excellent job in honoring them for their bravery and efforts to save you that day. She is so strong Larry, and is a great mother with your little guy.
This week is the California Officer Memorial Ceremony in Sacramento. Marcy the kids and are are going up to honor you and all the fallen officers in the state of Califoria.
I plan to go in my Class A...I promise to have my boots shined, uniform pressed and my brass polished! We will never forget, you will always be in my families thougts and prayers. I miss you LL.
