Reflections for Federal Prohibition Agent Malcolm Malachi Day

Hello! My name is Joanna Lynn Dion (maiden name is Park), and I just found out on Saturday that my Father's Great, Uncle is Malcolm Malachi Day!! Which makes him my Great, Great, UNCLE!!! My father is DAVID RAY PARK. His Mother, Claire, and Dorothy "Park" (Grose-was their Maiden name, and not sure on the spelling (?), were sisters. Dorothy, (his Aunt) had taken custody of him, when he was 18 mos. old, from Claire, because she was unable to "care" for him at the time. So, when we were going down the "Family Tree" the other day, I wrote down all the "names" of everyone (because it is confusing with Dorothy being my Dad's Aunt, and Claire having 6 more children after my father with another man-which would make them all his 1/2 siblings). But we started with my Grandma "Dot" (who is my dad's Aunt that raised him), and Claire, which is my dad's Biological Mother, being sisters. There were also some brothers (I think there were 12 children all in all, but he wasn't sure). The brothers all passed when my father was younger (he is now 67). They were his Uncles. Their Mother (my dad's Grandmother) was "Malhukla (or Malhuka) Viola Milan" (Not sure if I spelled it correctly), and her maiden name was "Grose". HER SISTER (which my dad couldn't think of her name at the time, (I'll ask him again soon!), is the one who got married to Malcolm Malachi Day, and became my dad's Great Uncle!! :) He believes that his Grandmother, and her sister, were from Welch, WV (?). He tried to remember as much as he could, but his "memory" is going a bit! :) ...So we are "related", not by blood, but marriage, to Malcolm Day. Either way, it is still wonderful to know your family heritage!! :) Thank you for reading!! Joanna Lynn Dion~ ...Ps- Since Claire was Malcolm Day's "Niece" (by marriage)...I was trying to find anyone who may "know" who my father's Biological Father is...The people who he has "asked" are is 1/2 brother and sisters (from Claire)..."Gaynelle, Dot Sue, Terry, Billy, and Gilda) they all live in WV. My dad "grew up" in Roanoke, VA with Grandma Dot (Dorothy)...Tammy Lee (my dad's cousin, but grew up as his "sister") and Mickey (Grandma Dot's other child) are both alive, but they do not know anything about their "Aunt Claire". Anyways, if anyone knows any connection, please contact me!!...Oh, and my Father's name, DAVID RAY "PARK" is from "Lewis Park", who adopted my dad when he was married Dorothy). :0)

Proud to be related to this legendary man. I have found now that I am in the USAF people always ask about WV and moon shining, and I get to brag about what a bad ass my great great grandfather was. I wish I could have met him, but hearing all the stories about from my Grandmother Anna Gray, maiden name Day will have to do.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. How proud you must be that so many in your family have continued your legacy of protecting and serving. Thanks to your family for sharing their devotion to your memory through their reflections.

Rest In Peace

I just found out today that my great-great grandfather died when my great grandmother was just about 1-2 years old. I also fund out that she had 11 brothers and sisters. I really wish I could've met you Grandpa Mac. Your grandson is probably the best man I've ever met. I hope that I will get to read the book The Legend Of Mac Day sometime this summer. God Bless You All. Thank You!

My Father, Robert D. Day worked along side Uncle Mac in Virginia or West Virginia for several years. Unfortunately, I never got to meet Mac Day nor many more of the Dad's relatives.

This was my great grandfather. His son Alexander D. Day (my grandfather) was also killed in the line of duty. I therefore was never able to meet either one of these heroes. The dynamics of my family for generations to come was changed because of the service to our Country and the State of West Virginia. Special Agent Day had a book written about him, The Crusader. I am very honored to be a descendent of such a great lineage.

Angent Day was my great great grandfather, and even though I have never met him, all I hear is great things about him. I have just started in Law Enforcement, and hope I can have the affect that he did. Anyone who gives there life to protect others is more than a hero, they are an angel. god bless you and all the others that have fallen to protect.
