Desire does not daydream and never does dedication. Your leadership and motivation, Officer Cook, forged newer relationships for those residing in Dade County during your watch. We look and listen hoping for a drop of dignity and reason for why your life had to end. No plausible reason. The young depressed man violated your honor and dignity, Officer Cook, by taking your character, humility and loving spirit of integrity. Wickedness spreads its wings and then no telling what will occur. Our cornerstones and their foundations were built from the bottom by your strength and heart of compassion, Officer Cook, a hero and a humane man of resolve and wisdom, it made your fruitful missions more blessed. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Headaches and toothaches cause pain, great pain just as the tragic loss of a beloved family hero who gives their life for the causes of character, honor and justice. It is a demanding and thankless position and there are those who accept this challenge freely and without reservation. You signed up, Officer Cook, for a profession that does have rewards and yet those obstacles are out there flying around like a vulture waiting for a carcass. Dade County's folks expected and got more than they could have dreamed of when you patrolled for a balance of harmony, freedom and the liberty that unity strives to beckon. A calling of honesty, dignity and integrity is not a simple process even with intense scrutiny, training and classroom and street work. The thugs, hoodlums and criminals are out in force waiting to steer their evil straight at us and your loving presence insured at least a fighting chance of dignity and determination to lead us through strife and sinister episodes of turmoil. Always a smile and politeness nestled among your morals, mettle, values and ideals. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Ladies enjoy flowers and candy so I'm sure you brought your mother, Mrs. Julia Cook and your beloved wife, Karen, those on special occasions. You are missed more than ever. I 'll still remember crying when I first heard you died. And though I did not know you or your family until I first met your nephew, Justin Miller and your niece his sister, Gina Wilkerson, you could feel their sense of loss and now it all comes around full circle. What a man! A public servant who glorified His Creator by doing His will and serving that cause of which many don't even go to. Honor complete acceptance of bravery, goodwill and a fighting spirit where you intensity and dignity went hand in hand bringing a semblance of law and order back to the community of Dade County.
