Reflections for Special Deputy Marshal Craig Alan Kriner
Sgt. Kriner, as I knew him, was the embodiment of what a police officer should be. Even towards the end of his career he remained passionate about patrol duties. I can still hear him telling me to jiggle the door handles of businesses on night shift and to be in the parking lot of banks around closing time. Sgt. Kriner was never looking for a shortcut or a way to take it easy. Throughout my career I always tell fellow officers about the kind of man Sgt. Kriner was and the impact he had on me. I never got to thank him. I still have all of the old police manuals he gave me because he knew I'd read them no matter how outdated they were.
I've heard it said but never has it been more fitting. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
Rest easy, Sarge.

Most merciful God, You hold each of us dear to Your heart. Hold all those law enforcement officers and their families, who are afflicted or affected by the COVID-19 Virus, in Your loving arms and tenderly draw them into Your life, together with all others who are living with the COVID-19 Virus. Assure them that they are not alone, and give them courage and faith for all that is to come. Strengthen those who care for them and treat them, and guide those who do research. Forgive those who have judged harshly, and enlighten those who live in prejudice or fear. Nourish those who have lost sight of You, and heal the spirits of those who are broken. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, who suffered and died, and then rose from the dead to lead us into new life, now and forever. In Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.
