Sir,

I have been blessed with the opportunity to learn about your legacy and hope to follow in your footsteps — be what you were — a cops’s cop. To me, that is the highest compliment a law enforcement officer can receive. God bless you and your family.

Sincerely,

More years of service than I've been alive. I have trouble wrapping my head around that. I hope that I can carry on the tradition of service that you have upheld for me and others as I grew up. I thank you for the protection you have provided to our communities which helped ensure that we all had safe opportunities in our lives. I will work hard and try to keep you and others like you who have sacrificed all close in my heart and mind.

Thank you for your service Sergeant Steve C. Owens and to your family for being understanding and compassionate of the career we chose. I myself lived in Lancaster for a couple years and quickly realized that it was not a nice area, the courage and heart you showed in serving the community will always be remembered. Your story has made me realize even more that when you say bye to your family, it may be the last time you say bye to them. I'm choosing the path to be a guardian, to be a warrior, to risk my life for the protection and safety of others. I will wear the Tan & Green with Pride and Honor.
