Reflections for Police Officer Joshua T. Miktarian
To the family and friends of Officer Joshua Miktarian and to his fellow officers, and most especially to Joshua:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend condolences for the grievous loss you suffered when Joshua so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you.
Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are experiencing. We know the meaning of lives forever changed because those bullets didn't just kill our beloved officers, but killed a part of everyone who loved them so dearly.
Rest in Peace, Joshua. May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Joshua gave to his community and the citizens of Ohio, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 13, 2008.

I grew up in Twinsburg and I never imagined I'd be posting a reflection about a fallen Twinsburg police officer on a website.
I moved to neighboring communities over the years, but I watched Twinsburg grow into a wonderful, thriving community under Mayor Perici, then Mayor Karabec and now Mayor Procop. My parents were both very community active in town; they loved our city and they rest in peace at Crown Hill, with Officer Miktarian...
I returned to Twinsburg 3 years ago. It's home to me; it was growing up and it always will be. I go to bed at night and I sleep very peacefully. It's that way for me, and for you, because of the generous efforts of the public servants in uniform who keep us safe, like Joshua Miktarian.
I didn't know Officer Miktarian. I wish I had. I generally only thought of our law enforcement officers when I'd be traveling a few miles over the speed limit and I'd pass a cruiser. Since Officer Miktarian's untimely and horrifying death, I now quite often think of the men and women in uniform that selflessly put their lives on the line for you and me, every day. And I pray for them, their families and their safety. I hope everyone reading this will too. They deserve that, and our gratitude.
God bless Holly and Thea Miktarian and the entire family, including Josh's brothers and sisters in uniform.

A Mother's Love
Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
you’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you’ve done your time in hell"

Joshua, there is nothing that can be said when we lose a fellow officer, only Heaven has gained another angel that can look down upon the rest of us to keep us safe. As a LEO, I cannot understand why our world is so full of hate and malice. Maybe now GOD himself can let you in on what's happening. I pray for your family, your baby and wife. We will keep them safe and always keep them in our prayers. Your baby girl will one day know how great a man you are and understand the hero you are to the rest of us. Please look down upon the rest of us and keep us safe as we make our own traffic stops and deal with the evil on earth. I'm sorry....Rest in peace.

Josh, the pain eases as each day passes but I still find what happened to you so hard to believe. I know you are watching over all of us from above and that spiritually you will be there to guide Holly and Thea along this difficult path they must follow without you. Please keep them and your fellow officers safe. You will always be a hero in my eyes....rest peacefully, you are safe now.
"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's glint on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn's rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand on my grave and cry
I am not there. I did not die"
