Reflections for Special Agent William "Buddy" Sentner, III

My heart goes out to you, your family, and fellow officers. When I heard this story on TV, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What a sensless act! Godspeed.

Buddy,

I'll miss grabbing Starbucks with you down near the USSS office in Phoenix. Wish we had kept in better touch once we moved on to different agencies in our careers.

Rest in peace, Buddy.

Buddy and Maria,

I will always struggle to understand what happened that day, to understand why I lived and God chose Buddy to protect me. As the days pass, so will my struggle to understand the tragic events that occurred. I believe it is more important to begin to focus on how I will live my life in a manner that will honor the memory of Buddy. My children and know of Buddy and that he died a hero. When the time is right, my children will fully understand the circumstances of that day and the fact that had Buddy not acted in the manner he did, they would not have a father to love and cherish them. His memory will not die when I pass, but will be carried on through them for generations to come.

To my fellow law enforcement officers employed at that Tallahassee FCI. As I have grown to know you and respect the difficult job that we share, I have become part of your family. I truly understand and respect the difficult profession we have chosen. I do not believe the individuals arrested that day were Correctional Officers. They were criminals who were able to get jobs in this profession. I know we will continue with the jobs we have chosen and not let these tragic events deter us from continuing the professions we love.

Sadly, I have visited the ODMP website daily since begining my career in Law Enforcement over two years ago. The death of Agent Sentner is one that all Law Enforcement will never forget. The day that a "cop" intentionally kills another cop, friend, co-worker and brother, with such a selfish act will forever remain in our minds as we work side by side, with fellow Officers that we may or may not know. Your death is not in vain, we will never forget you. Thanks for the dedication to your career, and the loyality to your true brothers. You are a hero in the minds of every Officer who has called for and responded to an "Officer needs assistance" call. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace friend.

May God bless the soul of Special Agent Sentner and may he rest in His eternal peace.
It is most commendable that he was willing to bring to light those "rotten apples" that would dare to taint the reputation of their fellow law enforcement officers who are decent and honest men and women who choose to serve our society in a honorable way.
To his wife, extended family and fellow agents, I offer my sincere condolences. You know he was heroic in his actions and may you take comfort in recognizing that there is no greater act than that which allows you to risk your life, to the point of making the ultimate sacrifice in an effort to protect others.
May God give you the graces you need to cope with this loss at this very sad time. With my deepest sympathy.

I just learned of Special Agent William Sentner's passing. As a Correction Officer, I was horrified to read about his death. My prayers and thoughts are extended to his wife and family during this dificult time. I am truly sorry that your loved one encounted the handful of corrupted souls that lost their way in the law enforcement fight. As a CO, I am especially thankful for your husband for carrying out his duties to make our correctional facilities a safer place particularly for the rest of the COs at that institution.

RIP Special Agent William Sentner

It's a big shame that these 'correctional officers' would do such a heinous crime. They should have never been hired in the first place -- they discriminated against the 'badge of honor'. I solute you SIR! -- and wish your family all the best in these tough times. Rest in Peace - BROTHER!!!

Buddy,
My co-worker, partner, and most of all my good friend. Words can not express the sadness I felt when I learned of your passing. We talked so many times of getting our families together, but for one reason or another we never did. I met Maria for the first time under extremely sad conditions. I now see why you chose her to be your soulmate. I only hope I was strong enough for her to lean on.
I know what happened that day. When it is known publicly, everyone will realize the strength, honor, bravery, and acts of heroism you displayed in order to save the lives of many. You were always humble and never wanted attention or the light of glory. Knowing this, I will honor you myself in my own little way each day.
I will do my best to go on, because you would expect nothing less from your partner. However, as a friend I will miss you and wish you were here.

Buddy,
Last night, after we buried you and brought Maria home, we went out to Charlie's Steak House and got soooo drunk... We laughed, we cried, we told "Buddy Jokes" and laughed - and cried some more. You made the classical "Buddy Exit" on us... we looked around, you were gone. So, which seven of us were there? Why, you know -- you were there with us too, for a while.

The death of buddy reminds us of how fleeting our life is here on earth. Buddy was my favorite street person here In Orlando, FL. My whole day brightened up when he showed up on the streets here which wasn't very ofen.
