Reflections for Deputy Marshal Glen Denning DeVanie

Hey Glen!

Jerry and a friend of ours went with me to the LOPA picnic in Folsom, Louisiana on your 8th Heavenly Birthday. Many families of donors and recipients were there. It's awesome to think of you helping others to extend their life. Maybe some of them had young children like you or were young fathers like you.

We also went the see LSU play Ole Miss in baseball. You were always on my mind!

The flowers in memory of you in Church Sunday were absolutely beautiful~

I'll love you forever,
Mom

P.S. Miss you bunches!!!!!

Deputy DeVanie,
I met your Mother by phone yesterday and what a wonderful woman she is! She has such a deep and incredible love and respect for you and for what your life was all about and for the great young man you were and still are. You were a blessing to all that knew you. Looking at your happy face here I can truly see the reflection of God in your face. I believe with all my heart that one day we will meet as well. Those of us who belong to Him will have such a great celebration on the other side! I think we share the same birthday as I read the reflections. One thing I know for sure, your life counted! In the short time that others were blessed to have you in their lives, you made a wonderful difference. Some people bring more love into the world and honor in the short time they are here then some who are here for many years. You were truly one of those special angels. May your loved ones be greatly blessed and may we all be happy knowing that you are walking by the true river of life with the one who knows and loves us best. : )
It is an honor to know about you.
Very sincerely and with love,
Carol Kendall, Houston, TX

Thinking of you and all of your loved ones on this day. I know it is a hard day for all of those that love you, but every day is hard for them without you being here. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones and those close to you. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the sixth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

To Glen's Mom Kay and his Dad: I share your anquish in losing a beloved child and understand the meaning of a life forever altered. I also understand the great love you have for your grandchildren and how they are a gift from God and how we regret our sons aren't here for their families. I hold you in my heart's embrace today.

Rest In Peace, Glen.

Deputy DeVanie served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him. It is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, Deputy DeVanie. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind, especially your young children, and may the Lord comfort them as only He can.

Came across your name among the many pages of heroes and wanted to stop and leave a reflection. First, thank you for your dedicated service to law enforcement. My thoughts are with all of your loved ones as I know they live every day with your memory as you are the first thing they think of when they awake each morning and the last thought on their minds before drifting off to sleep at night. Wrap your wings around all of your loved ones and help them with their grief and protect them from harm. Also, keep watch over those still out on patrol. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten.
