Reflections for Police Officer Benjamin Perez
Ben Perez was my uncle and i loved him dearly. Katarina, his oldest daughter, is my best friend, we do a lot together. His death was a very tragic incident, but it has brought out whole family together. It made me relize that the people who are most important to me, don't stay around forever! And i should live life as it is, and enjoy it! When he died, i was in the 5th grade, and i really didn't realize what was happening. I am now 14 years old and graduating from middle school and i can really relate to what it feels like. I will always remember him. I Love You Uncle Ben and Aunt Shelly!! Love always ~Kaitlyn

It will be 3 years since you paid the ultimate sacrifice and I know the pain is still in the hearts of your family. There are no words of comfort I can give them except that you lost your life fufilling one of your lifes dreams, being a police officer. I have met members of your family and different CPD functions honoring you, my son and all the fallen officers of Chicago. Your family will miss you for as long as they walk this earth and they nor your brothers and sisters in law enforcement will ever forget you. Watch over your family and protect them as well as those still out on patrol in Chicago.

Sometimes I wonder why GOD takes some sooner than others, for I have done many drug surveillances from the train tracks. I have been involved in a serious auto accident in the squad. I still patrol the ungrateful streets of Chicago. Always remember that you did not DIE in vain. There are many of us who are grateful for the sacrifice you gave doing the job you loved. GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY YOUR FAMILY BE BLESSED BY JESUS FOREVER.

I remember first meeting Benjamin 4 years ago as a recruit such as myself as we trained together in 016 and how much we complain how slow it was in the district. I knew Benjamin was a working copper and I know personally he would of like everyone to remember him as another proud policeman doing his share to make a difference in people life. GOD BLESS YOU Benjamin and my condolences to your family on their loss. May you know enjoy to continue your tour of duty in heaven brother... Miss ya Dennis

Our sympathies go out to Michele Perez, Ben's family and friends, and his co-workers. Losing a partner is often as bad as losing a family member. It is so very tragic. I hope the department retires his star.
Michele, there are so many people praying for you. You need to have faith and in time, you will again be happy. Be thankful that you have 3 healthy and beautiful children.
