Reflections for Police Officer Julie Rochelle Jacks
Julie-
When I heard about your death, I wanted to cry. I did not want to cry because I knew you and missed you, but because I did not know you. You are the true definition of the word hero. Your family and co-workers were truly blessed to have known and worked with a hero. Though I live hundreds of miles away from Chattanooga, I will forever be grateful for the job you did. Words could never express the thanks that you deserve. You are a very special person. All the training that we receive as Police Officers and the continuous training that we get in the tasks we preform every day never prepare us for such a great tragedy as losing your own. I never met you, but I feel like I have lost a friend and a co-worker. I do continually remember your family, your fiance, and your department in my thoughts and prayers. It is such a tragic thing to have to face. I pray that God will give them strength and comfort in this time of sorrow. You have fought the good fight, and you have run the race-now enjoy your peace. You have definitely earned it. Though you may not have been known in Baton Rouge, La., you will never be forgotten here. Rest easy, Warrior, and smile down upon all your fellow brothers and sisters that still remain to carry on the work that you once loved to do. Your life and work made a difference in Chattanooga. Your death made a difference in the Law Enforcement Community world wide. You are a hero in every Officer's eyes. Rest in Peace my Sister!

As a training officer, it is an honor when one of your own does so well and touches so many in a positive way. She was always tough, but always fair. She made her FTO's proud to have our names associated with her. I always tried to protect you, Julie, even though I know you did not need it. You were capable of and performed many exceptional tasks, and sometimes allowed us to help out. I am honored to have been able to call you my friend...no, my sister. I will love you and miss you until we meet again. You and your family remain in my prayers. FOX Team will never be the same.

Julie,
I will never forget the times that you came to back me up in the Fox Team for the short time that I was there the last two summers. You were so professional, yet friendly, and I could tell from your attitude that you truly loved this job. I will miss you.

We can all be assured that G-d took one of his precious children home to be with him...Julie Jacks had done her job that was assigned for her to do on this earth & not that we can understand why she was taken from us at such a young age, we do know that G-d knew exactly what he was doing when he needed her to be in heaven with her fellow officers that had gone on before her...I now ask our Heavenly Abba to be with the one's that are left behind & give them peace & love that Julie was so willing to share with all...May G-d's Shalom be with each & everyone that knew her & for her family.

Our job brings fear, anger, uncertainty and joy. We have to keep the joy of our job top priority. We do not do this job for ourselves, we do it for the people. Thank you Officer Jacks for your dedication.

My condolences go to Officer Jacks family and her department. It´s terrible to see, if a young officer must die in the line of duty. In germany, the goverment have problems with the word "hero", if an officer was killed in the line of duty. In the USA is it normal, to give a tribute to a fallen officer. After i read the report of the incident, i think Officer Jacks is really one of the U.S. heros! Rest in peace and god bless Officer Jacks.

Julie,
We are truly blessed to have you as our guardian. We can all feel safe, knowing that your eyes are upon us all, your arms are around us all, and that you will fight to the end to protect us. Thank you!
As most of our calls are dispatched, we rarely know what we are in for, yet we respond. You were always true to this, and when you received the last call, the call to the gate, I sincerely feel that you ran thru the gates, into the promise land, knowing that you could touch more of us there, than here in a district. I must say, once again, I’m so proud of you for the job well done.
You will not be forgotten and you will be with us always. The wonderful memories you left for us will not fade. We will share your name with all that we meet; they will know you when they see our faces because you will always live within us all.
God bless you and your family. You will be missed.
To Officer Jacks Family and Friends my thoughts and prayers goes out to you. May God bless you and May your love one rest in peace.

It is a shame that we have to loose officers such as this. My heart goes out to her family and as I understand, her fiancé, who is also a Chattanooga police officer. Many dark and lonely nights face them. There are many hero’s in this world, and she is one of them.
There is a quote on the Korea Memorial that says “Freedom is Not Free” That has always moved me. Officer Julie Jacks has paid the bill to keep us free.

God must need alot of the best and brightest. I believe thats why we lose so many officers every year.

Every day that we put on our uniforms, we do not know what the day will bring. We mentally prepare ourselves, we focus on our task at hand, roll call brings laughter, bonding with each other then we hit the streets, we work hard, answer complaints and pray we come home at the end of our shifts. We wish each other well and tell the next shift to be careful.
Officer Jacks, my prayers are with you and your family...God Bless you...You will not be forgotten....
