Reflections for Officer Lois Marie Marrero
I would just like to send my condolenses to the entire family of Officer Lois M. Marrero. I am a 17-year-old Canadian citizen who plans to become a Police Officer for the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Police in Ontario. It is unfortunate that officers continue to lose their lives in the line of duty - no doubt doing what they love to do. I heard about this incident on Canadian television and was outraged that such a senseless act took place.
I will keep Officer Marrero in my prayers along with other officers throughout the USA and Canada who continue to put their lives on the line for the safety of their country. I'm sure Officer Marrero will be missed by all who knew her and the reassurance that she is now in a better place is all that I can extend to all those hurt by the loss. This is a painful time -- as it is whenever any officer is killed -- and this officer, who was simply attempting to stop a burglary suspect, is a true HERO in BLUE.
The following is a poem:

I have been where you fear to be
I have seen what you fear to see
I have done what you fear to do
All these things, I have done for you.
I am the man you lean upon
The man you cast your scorn upon
The man you bring your troubles to
All of these men I've been to you.
The man you ask to stand apart
The man you feel should have no heart
The man you call "the man in blue"
But I'm just a man, just like you.
And through the years I've come to see
That I'm not what you ask of me
So take this badge and take this gun
Will you take it?...Will anyone?
And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered child cry
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

As a former Reserve Officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office I share the saddness that all who have served and are serving at your loss. As a security officer, I have worked in Tampa,Fl during many events(sporting, concerts) and have the utmost respect for the Tampa Police Department. This officer is part of the Thin Blue Line that sepaerates us from evil. I say is because once one is a fellow officer that person remains one. Just like the U.S. Marines one a Marine always a Marine. Once a officer always a officer. Your sacrifice for freedom on U.S soil will not be for you are a solder in the battle against crime. As a retired Navy man i gve you the following wish. FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWNG SEAS. May your sprit live on and find a great place to rest.
