It is a tragic death for the Dept and the family of this officer. My condolences to the family and dept. In Houston we had officer Vasquez killed in May. The job is serious business and we must use our utmost caution with these cop killers. May Officer Marrero rest in peace.

Though I did not know Officer Lois M. Marrero, I know why she put on that uniform and went out to do the job every day. We have forever lost a member of the thin blue line; one that fought the good fight. A low-life who was a thief and a coward in every sense cut short her life and career. We at the International Association of Women Police salute Officer Marrero and send our most sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. Godspeed, Lois.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF OUR FALLEN SISTER IN BLUE. AS A OFFICER, IT IS ESPECIALLY HARD TO SEE ONE OF YOUR OWN PASS. AS A FEMALE OFFICER MYSELF, THE DEATH OF ANOTHER SISTER IS JUST ALL THAT MUCH MORE OF AN IMPACT. MAY GOD BLESS YOU. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.

My condolences to the Tampa Police Department and to Officer Marrero's Family. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and the man who gunned you down was a coward. You can now rest in peace with your Brother and Sister Officers in the thin blue sky.

I saw the news footage of Ofc Marrero lying in the street. What a heartbreak, but try to picture the next scene of her life, A new body with no pain, literally carried into the presence of an eternal God by his angels to be forever alive and in his care. I know this may not seem fair right now but we all have an appointed time to die. Her's was a heros death, fighting for Right, Peace and Justice that I am sure she believed in with all her heart. God bless her and give strength to those who loved her and will miss her. Scripture says "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they will be called the sons (children) of God." This is God's promise to her. With much heartfelt prayer, Ptlm Michael A. Brown - Ret.

We just heard the tragic news today at our morning briefing....another officer killed in the line of duty. I am also a veteran officer with only 10 years left until retirement. As veterans, we tend to get too lax after we have survived many years in this profession.
Officer Marrero's tragic loss is a reminder to all law enforcement officers to exercise their officer safety skills each and every day to ensure we return home to our families. My prayers are with her family and co-workers.

My wife and I were visiting relatives in Tampa when we heard the news about Officer Marrero. I paid my respects at the memorial in front of Tampa Police Headquarters. I also had the opportunity to speak with fellow officers, who were holding up as best as they could. I never met Officer Marrero, but I share the same sense of family loss as her co - workers. All of us who wear the badge and put on the uniform know what the risks are. Officer Marrero, you did a job that was well done. Rest easy now. You will always be remembered. God bless you. 10 - 7.
