Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

To the family of Trooper Perez, I can truely feel your pain, because we also lost our 24 year old son Officer Michael Deno in the line of duty on Feb.29th of this year. He too had a car pulled over, but he was shot in the head by this person. The only way I can make it each day is to remember Mike's smile and his positive attitude. I'm sure our sons want our lives to be meaningfull and continue to be the best people we can be. Please know that our family will be thinking and praying for you. Our sons did not die in vain, they were proud to be policemen and I know they made a difference. We will see them again some day, it has been
promised.

I started my career llike you did at the Cedar Point Police Department. Before I started each day I used to look at your picture next to my locker and get inspired by you. I never really knew you, but from what I hear you were obssesed with you appearance and the way you did your job, because of this your memory has inspired me to do my job the best I know how. Thanks Robert for all the good memories that we've had from you. Thanks for been my best friend, and been there for me and my family all the time. I miss you friend. Ally and Kristin miss you too. Trooper Perez,
I remember the day I heard of the terrible accident that occurred May 12, 2000. I was getting ready to go to work the same place where you too started your career. I was deeply saddened to hear that you might not make it. I prayed everyday for you to get better but the Lord needed you more, he knew he had chosen the best officer.
The day I attended your funeral will be a day forever in my memory. Today and everyday, I go to work at CPPD and look at the wall next to my locker and see your memorial hanging there on the wall. I hope that future officers honor you as I do, knowing that we lost a great friend and an honorable officer.
I did not know you but I wish I had. From what I hear you were one of the best. It is officers like you that make me want to continue my career in this field. Until I see you again "brother," please keep me and all my fellow officers safe from harm.

To the family of Trooper Robert Perez Jr.

When Trooper Perez died the City of Sandusky all seemed to mourn the death of such a young police officer. In Sandusky we have a Police Memorial that is dedicated to the fallen police officers of Ohio and their families. I hope that no more names have to be added to that memorial or the memorial in Washington D.C. Police officers are to often taken for granted by many but Police officers should not be taken for granted they protect you and me and the cities we live in.

Thank you for dedicating you life Trooper Perez, and trying to keep Ohio safe you have touch so many people even though you didn't know us and we didn't know you i thank you from the bottom of my heart
