Dear Commissioner Tyrone Oliver and Members of the Georgia Department of Corrections :

We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of K9 Sissy, your loyal and brave canine. I can only imagine how difficult this time must be for K9 Sissy’s handler, your fellow officers, and all who had the privilege of working alongside such a remarkable partner. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of K9 Sissy.

It is clear that K9 Sissy was not only a highly skilled and dedicated member of your department but also a beloved companion and true community hero. The work that K9 Sissy and the handler performed—from tracking dangerous suspects to detecting threats—was vital, courageous, and deeply appreciated.

The bond between a K9 and their handler is unique and profound, forged through trust, mutual respect, and daily dedication to a shared mission. Losing such a partner is not just a professional loss, but a deeply personal one, and our hearts go out especially to K9 Sissy’s handler during this tough time.

K9 Sissy’s legacy of service, bravery, and unwavering commitment to public safety has left a permanent mark on your department and the community. The impact of that service will not be forgotten.

Please know that as you mourn, you are not alone. The broader law enforcement family and your community stands beside you, united in grief and gratitude. Having served in law enforcement for over 45+ years and as part of a law enforcement family, I understand the sacrifices that come with this profession. If there is anything we can do to offer support or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

May the memory of K9 Sissy bring you comfort, and may K9 Sissy’s legacy continue to inspire courage, service, and dedication in all who wear the badge.

With deepest sympathy,

Chief (retired) Don P. Jensen Sr. DrE, PGP, PP, PM

Lord God of Unfailing Love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Father God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer! In Christ Jesus, and by His Authority and Sacrificial Blood, I pray. Amen.

Scripture Verses of Support, Comfort and Hope from the Law Enforcement Officer's Christian Standard Bible:

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4), and;

"Well done, good and faithful servant!'" (Matthew 25:21a).

K9 Sissy, It takes only a second for eternity to be changed. The unforeseeable, lawless disorder of one person actually destroyed the lives of not one hero, but two, since Sissy's partner will bear the pain and loss while on this earth. The only silver lining is that beautiful Sissy, who never missed a beat, never missed the mark, is in the arms of her Creator, and is in the company of her other K9 heroes who are celebrating her homecoming to Heaven. May God bless her partner, family and department with comfort, rest and peace. And, remember that a brilliant star has been hung in the Heavens by God the very second He wrote her name on it!
