Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Douglas B. Miller

Hi Doug.

I am thinking of you today, it is now exactly 19 years since you took that bullet that ushered you into God's presence, and it hardly seems possibly that so much time has passed. It feels like it was such a short time ago...

I am thankful to the family of another officer, Kevin Lamm from Fairbanks; I received a lovely note from his parents today, introducing themselves. I decided to look him up and found this site. I was both proud and sad to find you here as well.

How I wish you'd been able to be here for all the growing up the kids have done. You'd be so proud of them! And you never got to meet the two younger ones, remember number 3 was still on the way the year you visited. Matt and Sarah have grown into lovely young adults, "M" is in the Army now and "S" is in her third year at college. They talk of going into law enforcement and emergency services. But what can I say? It is an honorable profession and I'm grateful for all who serve in it. I keep my fear to myself, I want them to be happy in what they choose to do.

I miss you very much. I know I speak for all of us... for Mom, and N and P. Perhaps I'll come back and drop another line here soon. We know you are safe and well, for we know that though you are absent from the body, you *are* in the presence of the Lord...

With loving thoughts...

Marilyn
