Dear Steve,
Today we remember you on your birthday like we have every year...We brought our Z28 out for a drive and to a Show and Shine in loving memory of you...It seems like yesterday and forever since you were taken from us. Wyatt might not have ever had the opportunity to have you in his life physically (since you were killed before he was born), but your spirit and love of life and us lives on within him and me...
You are loved and missed as much today as you were the night you were killed...

Well, Steve, it's been 25 years since you've been gone and you never leave my mind. We grew up side by side since we were toddlers. You were like a brother to me and we spent so much time together. I know you always wanted to be a police officer and the only thing that brings me peace is that you died doing what you loved. I look at the clock tonight and think of that horrible night, rushing to the hospital, thinking of your mom. You read about things like this happening, but you never think this will happen to someone you know and love. You were strong, silent, sensitive and always thought of others. Until we meet again, you will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Brenda

Steve,

After 25 years it still seems like a bad dream. How can the most gifted street cop to ever work Lynwood/Century Station be gone. The impact you left on all your partners can never be overstated. Today some of your old friends and partner will attend PM briefing to try and paint a picture of who Deputy Steve Blair was. Your actions helped shape our careers. We are all eternally grateful for you. God Speed my friend.

Steve (251 Eddie) it’s hard to believe you’ve been gone for 25 years.

I think about you often! You were truly one of the great ones and you were taken away from us way to soon.

May you continue to REST IN PEACE and continue to watch over all of us.

Thank you for your sacrifice and continued prayers for your family.
Miss you Brother!

24 long years Steve. I will never forget hearing the call over the air. I was Watch Deputy. Coordinating responding units. Hearing the traffic. Knowing it wasn't good. Focusing on doing the best for the Ones responding. Coordinating everything. Damn, that night really sucked. You were the best. Your legacy lives on. The work never ends. 251e did not die, you just changed uniforms. I know you are not resting, but I pray you are at peace. Keep and eye on your Sons. Love you Brother.

Steve, I always remember the date you were murdered it was Mother's Day weekend May 12, 1995. I remember thinking how horrible it would be for your Mom. So today May 12, 2019, I am praying for your Mom and all Moms who no longer have their child including me. Until we meet again in Heaven.

Steve....

It’s been over 33 years since we all graduated together, time has gone by too fast. Most of us from Class 229 have retired, although some are still hanging on. I have no doubt that you would have aspired to greatness within LASD if you weren’t taken from us.

Rest well brother.

Dear Steve,
Another Wedding Anniversary come and gone...Another Christmas, too. You’re loved and missed every day.
I know you’re watching out for us from above but the hole in our family is palpable. We talk about you all the time. Wyatt knows you through memories I share with him and photos he looks at all the time. He’s the true miracle we both were praying and trying for before your murder and he is growing up so fast. Every year it becomes harder for him because he realizes how much he’s missing without you here. Please continue to surround us with your love and protection.
You’re missed, loved and thought of today, tomorrow and always....

Stephen,

I only know you from pictures, but they have hung on the walls of our house ever since I was born. I wish I could have gotten to know you because our dad talks so highly of you. I know he was and is so proud of you. I pray for your soul and thank you for your service.

Sincerely, Emma

Steve, Today is Memorial Day 2018. I went to Rose Hills to visit and pay respects to father when I saw a fallen wreath across the road. I had no idea who it belonged to but I knew it needed to be up righted out of respect for whomever it was delivered for. I had now idea it was for a fallen officer. My family tree has no less than 5 law enforcement officers in it. I have respect for the Badge and what it stands for. The fact that I came across your fallen memorial today and knew the right thing to do was correct it comes from a good mom who taught us right. Yes she is one of the five officers. Rest in peace Steve knowing that the job you did and what you stood for will always be respected by others.

Deputy Blair,

This past Friday I attended the Memorial Torch Run with my son and daughter, words can not describe beautiful it was to be there. It sent chills down my back and it is a true inspiration knowing that so many people - the blue line family - care and have not forgotten your ultimate sacrifice.

The reason why this Memorial Torch Run was so special to be a part of is because I am a LASD Recruit in Class 429. The day of my captain's interview, I came across another recruit by the name of Joey Blair (your son). It's amazing to see that he followed your same path and want to let you know he's doing good and Class 429 will always have his back.

Deputy Blair,

You continue to be an inspiration and motivation to many of us. I thank you for your selfless heart and sacrifice. It’s people like you that remind us on how precious life can be. I pray that the Lord continues to bless and protect your family, always. Your son Joseph and I are in the same academy class/platoon, I can’t express what a blessing that is. I’m sure he’s making you proud. You’ll forever be in our hearts and a part of our academy class.
