Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Ronald Glenn Kilby

Grandpa,
I am honored to be leaving a reflection for you on this truly remarkable website. I am proud to be related to such a brave and dedicated man. I am saddened that I have to write to you in this manner and that you are not able to be here with us today.
I am the daughter of your namesake Ronald. He is married to my mother Judy. I have two brothers Ronald and David. We spend quite a bit of time together. Although we are loud and crazy at times we love each other very much.
I recently got married; October 14, 2006. To a wonderful man named Seth, and he fits right into the family. I am currently working as a pediatric Occupational Therapist. I love it and hopefully working with kids will not scare me away from having my own some day.
I have had the opportunity to hear my father and your other children (my aunts & uncle) share memories of you. Some very funny and also some that are quite sad. I know that your memory will live on.
Only having had one grandparent I feel that I missed out on knowing some really great people. I know that you and my other grandparents were with me through all my accomplishments and tears. I hope that I make you all proud! I thank you all for giving me such wonderful parents!

Love,
Melissa

Dear Grandpa,
I am your first grandchild. Your daughter Lori is my mother. She is a remarkable woman. She married her high school sweetheart Bill, and the two of them have taught me a lot about love and respect. My Mom keeps your picture in her bedroom. I think that she looks a lot like you. I have heard many stories about you and have even seen some home videos of you, Gram Lois, Kurt, Ronnie, Vickey and my Mom. Grandma Lois loves my boyfriend Chris because he reminds her of you. He is very tall and he has broad shoulders as you did, he even majored in Criminal Justice. Thanks for being so brave and keeping the community safe, I am honored to be your granddaughter, and I would have loved to meet you.
Love,
Terra

Dear Dad
I was only 2 so I really don't remember much. Ronnie, Vickey and Kurt and Mom tell me alot about you and I also have a video of us. I have deep respect for law enforcement and and have raised four beautiful, law abiding children. You are still in my thoughts.
Love Lori

Christine -

Sergeant Tim Beinert from our agency has taken the initiative to research your grandfather's sacrifice. Over the last year, Sgt Beinert has spoken with several citizens in the area that remember that horrible October day in 1959. The problem we are running into is being able to speak with family members not only to learn as much as we can about your grandfather, but also to hopefully invite surviving members to a planned 50th Anniversary in 2009.

Please feel free to contact Sgt Beinert or myself via phone or email.

I never got to meet you, but you are my grandfather. My mom always told me how much my three sisters and I would have loved you. Your children and grandchildren have all grown into fine young adults and think about you often. Thank you.
