Reflections for Officer George Arnold Kemp

I recently visited Mt Airy and went to the grave of Eng and Chang Bunker. I noticed a older gentleman tending to a grave and he began to talk to us about the twins. He then told us a story about his father and how he had been murdered.I believe we talked for about a hour.Every day since that meeting I have thought about that man tending to his fathers grave.I just can't imagine what that family must have went through to have someone taken from them in that way. I am so glad that I met his son that day. I will never forget our conversation and I will remember his father and tell the story to my children and grandchildren and he will always be remembered.

Rest in Peace Brother. The cowards who dared not face you have or will face a much sterner justice than anything here on earth.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 67th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

If your death had happened today, the advancement in forensics may have resulted in a different outcome, an outcome that would have given your family some sense of justice.

Rest In Peace

My grandfather, Farley Kemp, was George's brother. I found some newspaper clippings in my mother's things when she passed on. Very few and it was never talked about. Any information I can get on this matter will be appreciated. I am haunted by this.

I can only tell you that his death had a profound affect on the life of his sons and wife. I can't help but believe that someone in Thomasville or the surrounding area knows/knew the details surrounding Officer Kemp's murder. They have had to live with it and they will have to answer for it.

I wish that his family could know the truth about his death. Many may have known but cannot answer their questions now. I grew up hearing about him and I feel that he truly was trying to be a very upstanding officer. My mom and uncles knew his children and went to school with them at the time of his death. May they find peace and understanding. Thank you to whoever finally listed him as killed on duty.
