Reflections for Officer Michael A. Osornio

Though I never met Officer Michael Osornio, his story is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks officers face every day even during routine patrol. He was taken far too soon by someone else’s reckless decision, yet his brief time in service left a lasting impact. His dedication, even in just 14 months, speaks volumes about his character. May his memory continue to inspire others to serve with honor. Rest in peace, Officer Osornio. You are not forgotten.

Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing Officer Osornio, reading all of the reflections left on here by people that did know him it is clear the kind of incredible man and officer he was. I will do my very best to carry on the mission left behind by him. Rest in peace Officer Osornio, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.

Though it has been 30 years since the tragic loss of Officer Osornio, time has not faded the memory of his service, sacrifice, or the heartbreak caused by that terrible day. Taken by the senseless actions of a drunk driver, his life was cut short far too soon—but his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

As the years pass, we still remember the strength, dedication, and honor with which he served. His commitment to protecting others left a lasting impact on the community and inspired many to follow in their footsteps. Please know that even decades later, his memory is cherished, and his sacrifice is not forgotten.

Hello, I was on my way to Costco when I saw this sign. Out of curiosity I looked it up. My heart hurts for his fiance and family. I'm so sorry about this tragedy. Although I didn't know you, I will pray for your family.

Mike, I have carried your LHPD challenge coin with me everyday since they were made in 2007. I had always hoped to pass this coin on to someone who deserved it. Brother, I found that person whose dad is a brother officer in Virginia. This young man deserves it. Im thinking of you my brother and you are missed!

Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I remember being notified of the accident that night while attending Cavalry Chapel in Costa Mesa. I couldn't believe it; I had to go to the station to verify it. The family will always be proud of your service and we will never forget. We were cousins and brothers. Semper Fidelis

Today marks 27 years since we lost you. Mike, On the 25th anniversary of your passing, I just want you and your family to know you will never be forgotten. I had such great memories working with you. We had so many laughs together. You would have been 51 this year. It's hard to believe someone can only get 6 years in prison for taking away 50+ years of someone else's life. Rest in peace my brother. I miss you.
